It seems too good to be true, right? Well, many companies are living that dream by producing high quality blog posts. These allow them to rank highly in Google, drive massive traffic, and convert users into leads.

Sure, you can make videos, infographics, or podcast episodes, but nothing is more convenient and effective than a good article.

Long form is in. There’s no secret about that.

However, only a small percent(less than a quarter) of businesses are aiming for blog posts over 750 words.

There are countless studies that show longer content ranks for more keywords, tends to rank higher, and achieves better performance than short form pieces.

One time I read this great because called Don’t Make Me Think. It was all about user experience, and had some interesting information about how people use websites.

The author mentioned that most users skim through sites to find the most important information, and blog posts are no different.

Think about yourself. Do you catch yourself reading every single word of an article? Probably not.

You scroll through, using the headers like traffic uses a traffic director.

When you’re producing content, ensure that you break down your articles into bite sized chunks. Format it with H1, H2, and H3 tags, along with lists and bullet points.

This aligns with the user habit of skimming content.

4. Listicles with odd number headlines are better than even ones. (Source)

List style articles are good for organizing lots of information into an easily digestible format.

However, did you know that odd number headlines perform even ones?

Next time you’re writing a headline for a list article, try using a number like 13 instead of 10, for example.

5. “How to” headlines are one of the most preferred headlines by readers (Source)

The classic how-to style headline is one of the best to use for blog posts.

This is because it implies that the reader is going to learn something useful, and will be guided step-by-step through the process.

When you’re writing these style of articles, ensure that you do exactly that. Skip the fluff and make it as practical as possible.

When you create content that is tailored for a specific audience’s interests, questions, and problems, they’re going to feel closer to you.

It shows that you’ve done your research and are genuinely trying to help them.

I recommend that you use a combination of market reports, analyzing review sites, and sending out questionnaires to get into the head of your customers.

You can use this information to produce content that aligns with them as much as possible, building a relationship and trust.

Backlinks are like a voting system. They tell search engines like Google which websites have the most popularity and are recommended by other sites.

They are one of the most crucial ranking factors if you want to soar through the SERPs like a rocket and get huge traffic.

It makes sense, too. No one wants to link to your homepage, services page, or about page.

Customers need to trust your brand before they purchase from you. This is the most prevalent in the B2B industry.

Content acts as a medium to display your expertise, and it’s been found that B2B consumers will typically read up to five pieces of content before contacting you.
